The Salmar Grand is Salmon Arm's four-screen, first-run movie theatre on Hudson Avenue — and it runs unlike almost any other cinema. The Grand is owned and operated by the Salmar Community Association, a non-profit formed in 1946, making it one of the first non-profit groups in North America to operate a first-run multiplex. Every dollar of profit goes back into the theatre and the community, funding donations to local health care, education, sports and the arts. The four-plex opened in 1997 and screens current Hollywood releases daily, with showtimes and online tickets on its website.
